Chickpea Salad / Chana Chaat Recipe

 Salads are always healthier choice of eating. Chickpea salad having low in fat and high in protein.Chickpeas along with the addition of some spices makes it really tasty. Try this comfort food for your ifthar and you won't be disappointed.

  1. Chickpea-1cup

  2. Onion-2small

  3. Tomato-1small

  4. Cucumber-1medium

  5. Ginger-1small piece

  6. Coconut grated-1tbsp

  7. Green chilly thinly choped-1tsp

  8. Turmeric powder-1/4tsp

  9. Coriander powder-3/4tsp

  10. Pepper powder-1/2tsp(optional)

  11. Garam masala-a pinch

  12. Chilly powder-1/2 tsp

  13. Salt-to taste

  14. Coriander leaves-1tbsp

  15. Lemon juice-1tsp

  • Soak chickpeas in water for overnight.

  • Pressure cooks it with water and salt until done.

  • Drain it and keep aside.

  • Heat a teaspoon of oil in a pan; saute 1 onion chopped until golden in color.

  • Add thinly sliced ginger and green chilly in to it.

  • Add grated coconut in to it.

  • Add turmeric powder as saute for a minute.

  • Add coriander powder, chilly powder, pepper powder and garam masala.

  • Add little salt in to it.

  • Add cooked chickpeas in to it and mix well.

  • Chop remaining onion, tomato, cucumber and coriander leaves in to extra thin

  • pieces.

  • Mix it with chickpeas.

  • Serve soon by sprinkling lemon juice and salt.
